Having a success mindset is crucial to achieving any big goal or task. Being successful in any endeavor is defined as, “The accomplishment of an aim or purpose”.
But what are the key ingredients to becoming successful and reaching your goals?
3 Things You Need To Be Successful
Here are my top three things you need to be successful in today’s world.
Success Mindset 1 – Having A Clear Vision
In order to achieve something, you not only have to of course know what it is that you are striving for but you also have to have and hold in your mind a clear, concise image of what it is you want to attain. The more real you can make your goal in your mind day by day, the more your mind will put into motion the plans and activities needed to bring you closer to it, thus strengthening your success mindset.
“Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve”. –Napoleon Hill
Success Mindset 2 – Faith
FaithI believe that one of the biggest killers of peoples goals and dreams is a lack of belief in themselves. A lack of personal belief in oneself seems to be a very common symptom. I myself was once a sufferer of this so I can fully understand how limiting and defeating it can be.
However, I made a choice to do what was necessary everyday to change this negative belief until it was no longer an issue in my life. This really helped me to build my success mindset. If you also suffer from this limiting affliction then you can change it if you choose to.
In terms of achieving a goal, there are two fundamental beliefs you need to have;
- The belief that what you are trying to achieve is possible
- The belief that it is possible for YOU to achieve it, that you are the kind of person who can achieve it
Many people will readily (and rightly so) believe that a specific goal is achievable as they have seen many other people also achieving the same goal.
The problem usually lies with the second belief, that they don’t believe it is possible for them, mainly because deep down they don’t believe they are the person capable of achieving it, whether they know it consciously or not.
I remember listening to Darren Hardy at a seminar I attended a few years ago. He said, “People often ask me, ‘What do I need to do to be successful?’ But they are asking the wrong question… They should be asking themselves, ‘Who do I need to become in order to achieve what I really want?’ This is where their focus should be”.
If you discover that at you are not currently the kind of person who is capable of achieving your goal, perhaps due to a lack of some specific knowledge, skill or qualifications then the first steps are to acquire that knowledge or qualification etc.
Also bear in mind your attitude, do you have the right attitude and mindset of a person who can achieve your specific goal? If not then get to work fast on changing it.
Both these beliefs are important to achieve a goal and creating a success mindset however, I think the second one is a far more important belief to have. A person who believes in them self wholeheartedly can achieve anything they put their mind to if they also take the right action.
“Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right”. –Henry Ford
Success Mindset 3 – Daily Action & Persistence
If you want to achieve any worthwhile goal you must put in the work in order for you to get there. Just applying visualization and wishful thinking will not get you anywhere. You need to remain focused and take action everyday, even if your actions are small.
This continual action not only builds momentum but also solidifies in your mind that you really want this goal. It helps build your success mindset which will dramatically speed up and improve your chances of achieving it.
Make sure you take the right action by drawing out a blueprint of your goal and the steps to achieving it. Break it down into a series of ‘bite sized’ mini goals that you can achieve over time, ticking them off your list as you go. Each time you tick off one of the mini goals you are one step closer to achieving your overall big goal.
